Default Advice on brake/rotor replacement

I have been researching putting new brakes and rotors on my 2014 Z51 with 34000 miles. I am the second owner and have very few service records available but doubt the brakes have been replaced before. I wanted pads that produced less dust anyway and decided that changing the rotors at the same time would be a good idea. I would say that I have average mechanical skills. However, with the videos available and information that can be found online, I think I should be able to manage this project. My question is if this sounds reasonable to those of you that work on your own cars? Is there anything else you might want to let me know about this job?

Also, my car is driven on the street only. Would any of you recommend a good set of pads/rotors I should be looking at?

I expect to start in a week or two. Thanks.

I would just get the new style OE Z51 rotors and I highly recommend the Carbotech 1521 pads, A pad description and price is below I will also share a step by step pad change for you here http://netwelding.com/Ceramic_Pads.pdf

For a high quality low dust performance street brake pad take a look at the Carbotech 1521 brake pad 100% non-corrosive dust will not harm your wheels, paint or rotors. Carbotech brake pads are 100% made in the USA and contain NRS Technology Here is a link to explain further what NRS technology is exactly: http://www.nrsbrakes.com

Carbotech brake pads can be ordered by calling me at 216-780-8825. Or I can send Pay Pal invoice. price and pad description is below. Sorry website is under construction for ordering at this time.

Front CT1001 1521 $161.50

Rear CT1718 1521 $164.35

The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

Its a straight foward task if you have the tools and skills or willing to learn by watching videos. Nothing tricky about it, just a standard consumable parts swap. The only tips I have is there is a star pattern screw that holds the stock rotors in place so you'll need the correct bit to remove it. Make sure the parking brake is off when removing the rear rotors. And obviously the car needs to be jacked / lifted safely for the whole process. The front caliper bolts are on pretty tight (162 ft lbs) so you might need a breaker bar on your wrench.

PowerStop makes a kit with everything you need (rotors and pads). I run their Z26 pads (nearly dust free) along with DBA rotors for street use and swap pads for track days.

JMII has you covered for street driven Corvette. I prefer DBA rotors and Carbotech 1521 pads for the street, but I suspect Powerstop works equally well.

Only thing i will add is you can get a proper torque wrench as a free loner from Auto Zone to retorque the caliper bolts to 162 ft lbs
