Default A8 Paddle Shift Lag

Is there a solution/fix to this problem? It seems like it takes two seconds for it to shift unless you are stomping on it and shifting fast. Is a TB or TB Controller the fix?

I noticed the same thing on my 16 Stingray A8, shifted much quicker in drive than it did with the paddle shifters. For that reason, I quit using them, just let the computer and transmission do it's thing.

My tuner tuned the A8 and it shifts like a DCT now. Highly recommend.

Do elaborate on what your tuner actually did within the tune please.

I can see the upshifts being like that but, not the downshifts. My upshifts are very, very fast but, I never use the paddles--its just not as efficient as letting the General shift for you. Unless I'm at the track, then I'll exclusively use the paddles to short shift a bit to keep temps in line.

I think what you are saying is the lag time between you slapping the paddle and then the car shifting. The actual shifting is just as fast as when in D, but I find that you need to tap the paddle a little earlier in order for the car to shift at the RPM you want. right?

I don't know all that he specifically did on his end, if that is what your asking. I really haven't had the opportunity to get on it hard and see what the paddle shifts are like; I maybe used them once or twice on the drive home and for the most part keep it in D. He said something about how I could put it in M mode and just put my foot down and it would make the shifts at redline automatically. I think that was for the drag strip and even then, I'm not sure you can keep your foot in the gas the whole time, (certainly cannot on the street.). I intend to get an MPIV2 to export and save a copy of the ECU and TCM tune applied but I haven't got there yet.

While the car is shifting in performance mode the shifts are very quick. The paddle lag from driver input to actual shifting, there's no way to tune that out that I'm aware of.

I find the shifts are adequate only under heavy throttle. Gently squeezing the paddle like you're sighting-in your rifle will result in slow shifts. Flipping your paddle quick under throttle will help.
If you're just cruising around town with your car in manual mode, it will lazy lag shift no matter what. It ain't a DCT.
