So I just spent the last 2 hours reading x -pipe threads and googling and finding different places that still sell catless options. Came to no conclusion.
I want to improve the sound of my car, with a quality made pipe that isn't going to have fitment, weld or leak issues. I would like to think I am adding power, but I honestly want more muscle sound and don't care if I go from 12.0-12.1 in the 1/4 mile.
I have determined AWE, aFe, SR1 and the ebay knockoffs which look to have resonators are currently available. I do not want to pay for the Corsa seeing as it has a known power loss ( supposedely) and an exotic sound ( from what I have read).
Out of the AWE, aFe and SR-1.......can owners please chime in on cost, quality, install, sound and any definitive power gain or loss on a dyno. Not interested in hearing you ran a 10th slower at the drag strip on a different day in different conditions....
I have the AWE on my 15' Z51 with NPP exhaust and love the way it sounds. The pipe looked well built, fit was perfect, and the overall sound is impressive. I removed the fuse to keep the valves open all the time and IMO it's perfect. I didn't feel anything power wise but I couldn't be happier with the sound.
Good video on Borla and Corsa x-pipes. Both x-pipes gain power over stock and these pulls are with the stock tune, Borla has a few more hp over Corsa but Corsa has more torque.
What has better sound is an individual preference. I have the Corsa and the quality and craftsmanship are good. I did buy an Ebay x-pipe but returned it after it arrived. Where the X was at the connection weld was broken and it had seriously bad craftsmanship. Corsa is 3-inch x-pipe while Borla is 2 3/4 inch.

Good luck finding an xpipe. EPA has cracked down on companies manufacturing and selling them. AWE and corsa x pipes are no longer being made. I just put a corsa on and the fit and finish along with the sound is great. I had an AWE x pipe on my z06 and it was nice as well. Can’t go wrong with either of those.

I have a Top Speed Pro1 X-pipe. It looks almost identical to the Manzo pipe. Quality is top notch and it sounds pretty much identical to a friend of mines Borla. I now have a AWE Touring system tied to it and no problems.
thanks for the feedback! to those who installed themselves.....floor jacks, race ramps? how did it go? thanks
I jacked my car up then slide the ramps in place when I put my Borla on. Only advice I have is check for leaks BEFORE you bolt the tunnel brace back up. Also get the exhaust donuts gaskets since you might as well swap them out when everything is apart.
I used my quick jack. Easy job. I reused the exhaust gaskets. Worse part was laying on my back and wrenching on all of the bolts on the plate that covers the x pipe.

I did the same and replaced those donut gaskets. I couldn't get them off the original x-pipe so I just replaced them.
I put all four wheels on ramps with jack stands; just in case.
The manzo x-pipe junction sucks..it looks fine from the outside but you can tell by looking at it from the outside the actual inside junction opening can't be very large. I looked inside with a flashlight and there's a maybe 1 inch long opening and maybe 1/2 inch tall. It can barely be considered a x-pipe at least mine was. I only bought it to ditch the secondary cats so I didn't care too much. It won't stay on the car long.
