Default Question about extended studs

Happy Easter. This is my 1st post. I have a genuine question about that "StanceLyfe". I will apologize in advance that I did not find the answer within the search - are people still attacked for that?

Let me preface that I truly love the OEM Z51 wheels. I have been considered aftermarket wheels and Z06/ZR1 reps however I am only doing so because I hate the offset. As you can see by the photos I keep the car pretty low. It does align within specs however the sunken in look is very exaggerated now.

I was thinking maybe those weapon x spacers with the weird extended lugs I have seen like nowhere else but they are only 6mm. I think I need to go a bit more than than but want to avoid rubbing and hoping for some experience out there. Reading other threads I know people get very emotional about this subject. I understand the added worry of extra rock chips. I also get the argument that GM spent a gazillion dollars on the R&D of this specific layout, stance, alignment, bla, bla whatever and that I am asking to change what the dream-team engineers designed, etc.

Guys, I am just looking to bring the stockers out a bit safely. Does anyone have good advice on the conservative amount to bring these out with quality spacers and extended studs? Front/Rear? I am almost to the point of needing a new set of tires. I may go with a recommended plus size tire setup but I doubt that will clear up that front sunken in. Thank you for your replies!

Thanks,
Dave

You can push the fronts out 10mm and the rears out 13mm without rubbing, anymore than that and you’ll rub and that is bottom out the stock lowering bolts. If you have aftermarket lower bolts then you might rub.

Thank you. The front is more concerning to me. Maybe I will try 10mm all around to keep is square. I am running aftermarket lowering bolts basically bottomed out.

My setup is pretty flush looking, this is with 265 / 305 rubber on 18 / 19 wheels on a Z51:

The fronts are 6mm and the rears are 4mm further offset compared to OEM.

The fronts are perfect (to me) but the rear could come out more... however they already rub on track slightly fully lowered on stock bolts. I guess with some camber they could tuck in more but I'm not all about the stance. I just wanted to avoid the sunken OEM look with a slight drop.

Very nice, thank you. Do you have any other angles. Tire width looks great.

I always tend to steer away from spacers, especially if you drive aggressively or on a track. Puts some additional strain on the wheel hub. Might be best to look into some new wheels if you want completely different fitment? I caved last year and got some and it changes the look, along with lowered stock bolts.

Very nice thanks for sharing. Those wheels look great. I really like the ZR1 wheel but I feel some angles look weird not being as concave as oem. I just really like the ZR1 wheel and hate to change them. I do not track, maybe an on-ramp here or there. do you know how much those are out compared to stock? What are they?

Thanks,
Dave

Makes sense. You might be able get away with some 5-10mm spacers safely, but not sure you'll see much of a difference visually. Thanks! These are Rohana RFX11, not actually meant to be zr1 wheels, just a similar design I liked. I did also see there are some z51 style after market wheels out there if you wanted to keep that z51 look you have now but get in a different more flush size. Can check out carid or fitment industries for those. These are close to poking, but not quite. Rears are 20X12 with +82 offset, 315/30/20.

Here are two other angles... I believe these we all taken before lowering, however since I was rubbing a bit I've raised it back up.
The 265 / 305 combo is a tiny bit less diameter so that visually increases the wheel gap slightly. I wanted to go with wider tread because (to me) the stock tires looked a bit stretched plus I wanted a larger contact patch on the track.

I am happy with the look, just wish I could go lower without rubbing. Once again it might be more of a camber issue. If this was a normal steel bodied car you could just pull the fenders slightly.

Wheels are AR924 "Crossfires": https://www.americanracing.com/produ...24-cross-fire/ they come in two colors (graphite like mine or satin black) and 18/19 or 19/20 setups for base or Z51 C7s. The pictures on the website make them look deeper but the C7 offset results in a flat face wheel.
