The Owners Manual recommends that you use 93 Octane Top Tier gasoline. 93 is not available everywhere and when it isn't 92 is usually available. The manual states that you can use as low as 87 Octane but you will sacrifice performance and mileage.

Shell Nitro 93 Octane in my 17 GS works really well. Should be available nation wide. Get Shell app, it will give you locations near you. Maybe not if you live in a rural area.
How many guys are using Reg.89 octane in their c-7's ???? If you are what problems have you had ?
Sounds like its time to switch to E85 if you have it in your area. Its worth every penny you'll spend to swap it over with a
E85 Sensor to read the amount of E you are running. Besides the fuel cost saving you'll be surprised how much more power it makes. I will require a tune and if you are traveling and can't find E you can run good old gas in it and the sensor will see that and won't allow more then stock timing at WOT, Its an awesome mod.

Just FYI, 93 octane is not available anywhere in Arizona.
