hello all really need help here, so i have a 2014 C7 automatic 3LT with 40k miles on it, dealer is telling me the ball bearings in the flywheel are bad and causing the weird knocking sound when the engine shuts off. Here is the fun part, they say outside of all warranties manufacture or extended and the entire drivetrain needs to be replaced as GM will not sell just flywheel. quoted me 5k for repair.
1. thought the automatic had a flex plate no flywheel?
2. can this be correct? the whole drive train not just parts or internals
thanks in advance this is such a headache and basically i need help with next step i cant believe at 40k i would need to replace a drivetrain
First off you dont have a flywheel, you have a flex plate. I never heard of ball bearings on a flex plate. The torque converter attaches to the flex plate.
I think the guy you talked to is a scammer. You cant get the entire drive train for 5K
Yeah that sounds quite strange to me. I would go somewhere else. We can't hear or see the problem so in depth is hard to do through Text in a forums.. people are stating that this does not sound right, find a more knowledgeable dealer/repair shop in your area for a second opinion at the very least.
