18-NA-355 says GM didn't start delivering new C7 A8's with the blue label Mobil 1 LV ATF HP fluid until Feb 1, 2019. If you have a C7 A8 built before then, than at least from the factory, you did not get the desired and only current approved ATF. I have head of dealers doing a flush prior to with previous ATF and the only requirement GM states is that they don't do this procedure more than once under warranty. Logic dictates that unless they can prove they flushed your vehicle with the correct ATF once before, than they cannot say that they have performed the procedure called out for in 18-NA-355.

This ATF triple flush is more than just a simple ATF drain and refill, it is a specific procedure that on the Corvette entails 24 qts of ATF. Unless GM service records indicate that 18-NA-355 has already been performed, one can only surmise that it has not yet been performed.

Thanks....Mine was replaced with the new stuff,My car is going in the local shop tomorrow to have the Third torque converter put in???....and he does have the correct fluid......LV ATF HP 12210......So it sounds like it’s the right stuff.....Could only change the oil that comes out of converter because I’ve probably only put 7K miles on the last change....But since He’s doing new converter I might as well get a complete flush.....Thanks

Before I retired, I worked for a company that built computerized auto trans test machines. Worked there over 40 years. The machinery we built tested casting porosity, line pressures, rpms the trans up shifted at, downshifted at, etc. These were built mainly for Ford. But the 6R (6 spd auto, Rwd), and many other automatic transmission projects are now usually joint ventures between what's left of the "Big 3". But long term durability, and prototype development, are on the Big 3. These companies need to start development sooner, and stop using customers as developmental guinea pigs 🐖!!! When you lay out any amount of money they're asking today for a new vehicle, ESPECIALLY $100,000+ for a new hyper Vette, worn valve guides in 20,000 miles, or LESS, dropped valves, overheating engines, burned up torque converters/auto transmissions, etc. It's not limited to Corvettes, either. My 2014 CTS AWD Premium had 6 new cam phasers, and a new timing chain, all in under 75,000 miles!!! Had an $1,800.00 CUE system go bad at 47,000 miles!!! It was all under warranty. But who wants to stay at the Stealers all day? This is unacceptable quality from any manufacturer. American manufacturers used to be the epitome of world manufacturing. C'mon GM, you're better than this. All manufacturers have some defective engineering. But the engine and trantransmission are the heart and soul of the car, especially a Corvette! I digress.... ..
