Before I retired, I worked for a company that built computerized auto trans test machines. Worked there over 40 years. The machinery we built tested casting porosity, line pressures, rpms the trans up shifted at, downshifted at, etc. These were built mainly for Ford. But the 6R (6 spd auto, Rwd), and many other automatic transmission projects are now usually joint ventures between what's left of the "Big 3". But long term durability, and prototype development, are on the Big 3. These companies need to start development sooner, and stop using customers as developmental guinea pigs 🐖!!! When you lay out any amount of money they're asking today for a new vehicle, ESPECIALLY $100,000+ for a new hyper Vette, worn valve guides in 20,000 miles, or LESS, dropped valves, overheating engines, burned up torque converters/auto transmissions, etc. It's not limited to Corvettes, either. My 2014 CTS AWD Premium had 6 new cam phasers, and a new timing chain, all in under 75,000 miles!!! Had an $1,800.00 CUE system go bad at 47,000 miles!!! It was all under warranty. But who wants to stay at the Stealers all day? This is unacceptable quality from any manufacturer. American manufacturers used to be the epitome of world manufacturing. C'mon GM, you're better than this. All manufacturers have some defective engineering. But the engine and trantransmission are the heart and soul of the car, especially a Corvette! I digress.... ..
