with all that. I'd never disassembled the C7 interior, so I took my time and referred to online videos throughout. Without dropping anything in the torque tube, it took me about 3 hrs. As with many jobs, now that I know what I'm doing, I could do it (again) in closer to 2hrs.
im going to go slow and steady, no need to rush when it comes to dismantling or installs. also if u lose focus or start to get impatient just walk away and take a beer break.
I rather something go wrong when im calm and it just happens when i know i was going as slow an steady as possible, if i do something stupid when i start to get out of normal because something isnt going to plan it makes the issue worse.
im planning a few hours 2-4, install are suppose to be fun so if things get tough im learning to take a break...
good luck, i think one of the first important note that comes to mind is to remove that drivers side center console trim piece from the rear end and not the front.
Someone posted a great tip that I learned AFTER the fact. Stuff a few rags down in the tunnel when you start removing or installing hardware. It will prevent dropping one down in the tunnel and spending 30 minutes fishing it back out with a magnet.
I dropped a socket in there and that joker hid for a good 30 minutes before my magnet actually locked on.
Also, if you happen to start the car before you button everything back up just to check the shifter, you may throw a code/CEL for the MODE selector being unplugged. Clear it if you have a code reader, all should be good after that.
I think it took me just under 3 hours, complete start to finish, and I was watching videos as I did each step. It's not hard, but there are a lot of steps to getting it done right. General advise: firm pulls on the clips (not bending the panel) will get them out without breaking, proper torx bit for the shifter bolts, and attention to detail along the way.
Ditto....2-3 hours going slow and taking pics along the way. A few misc pics are below. One note, if you start the car to verify shifter operation before putting the center console back, you’ll get the Check Engine Light due to the mode selector being unplugged. It’ll clear on its own after a couple restarts and a couple miles of driving.
