Oil Change Life 5%
Changed oil in the late fall since it was nearing 5%. In Ohio so it sat most of the winter in storage. Have about a thousand miles since last change and a note appears on the dash - Close to time to change your oil 5%.
Normally I would just reset it. with all the electronics and stuff I opted for the extended warranty. Should I change the oil? Really is BS to have it based on time and not usage.

With minimal mileage the oil life indicator should take 12 months to go from 100% to 0%. Did you possibly forget to reset the indicator?
If you have the Chevy Owner center set up you can view your oil life remaining as well as mileage. The graph will tell the story.

There are a gazillion such posts here. The "clock" tells you to change the oil every year if it moves under its own power or not during that time. If out of drive-train warranty, change whenever you do any other vehicle, if still covered change it every year to be on the safe side... all the best.
