Replace all hardware when replacing valve springs?
I broke a valve spring on my c7 and plan on replacing all of the springs at once with GM blue stripe springs, apparently different from the yellow stripe based on the stripe color only? No idea if anything changed except the paint color.
Is there any issue to replacing all the retainers and keepers at the same time as doing all the springs? I’ve read you have to keep the OEM keepers in their correct spot when taking off and putting back so wasn’t sure if new keepers cause any issue with a worn in valve for 40k miles.
My thought is since one spring broke, the others are maybe on their way so let’s start fresh with everything.
Just keep the same retainers and keepers ....... no need to replace at all ..
It seems like cheap insurance to (already ordered them) so that’s why I was wondering. I understand the retainers and keepers really aren’t wear items?
