Default Another Swaybar Thread

I have a 17 stingray with MRC.. Just started to really drive the car around after getting work done on it. the handling on this car compared to my other is just horrible. I have a. blower installed. Car wants to go side ways at any moments notice changing lanes almost feels like the car is changing lanes seconds later, very boat like feeling. My tires are good and brand new… So I did some research and learned about all this swaybar stuff

That being said. i’m in the market to purchase a set of bars with everything I need I just need to know what’s the best performance option out there. Don’t wanna do this twice, rather just buy the best option suited for me rite now. If anybody has opinions or options please

A good adjustable rear sway bar, adjustable toe links and and the correct alignment will take care of this

any recommendations on what companies I should look at? should I also look into replacing my front sway or should I leave that alone and focus on rear

What drive mode are you in? Tour mode is too soft with the MRC and thus somewhat boat-like to me. The steering is over boosted plus since its electronic is lacks the feedback you get from a hydraulic setup. All this put together means the front end is a touch vague. Put it in Track and she should be fine... well unless you mashing the gas and breaking the rear wheels loose. Putting a stiffer bar out back is only going to make the rear end want to step out even more.

I actually have not had it aligned yet, I didn’t wanna get it done then find out I was gonna upgrade to a rear bar after all and have to do it all over again. I am not on radials currently but I do have a set I plan to use (18s)

Yea i’m familiar with the modes, and im actually getting the issue in all modes, even in track mode the car is still very swayE when shifting lanes or even taking tight turns. Just doesn’t feel confident. I usually just just get on the gas randomly I kind of ease into it. and sometimes i’ll do a roll after 50-60. If the road isn’t completely strait it’s sketchy. There’s also tons of wheel hop as well.

I just offered a rear bar from LG, along with adjustable toe Links for the rear. I’m hoping this solves some of my issues.

So having the backend step out is not normal , I would have the car aligned.
Changing the sway bars out will have no affected on your alignment
I would also check the tires really good as all it takes is one busted cord

I would also scan the car with GDS2 or the like to make sure all the sensors are working correctly . Especially making sure your steering shaft position sensor is reading centered , these sensors will not pop a code but sure will play hell with the nannies. You won't be the first guy to find out the position sensor is not centered

And don't forget, if you go drag radials it's going to get worse as the sidewalls are soft, do not mix runflat fronts with drag radials on the back....

Good luck !!

i’m reading in acouple different threads that I should look into upgrading the front bar as well since the base model fe2 comes with a 26mm bar up front and i’m installing a beefy rear bar which may throw off the car.. any input on this?

this is getting pretty complicated lol. I just want the car to ride smooth and handle great…

Shoukd I look into upgrading the front bar to a z51 or z06 bar….?

Rear sway bar will help, toe links will be way more accurate than the factory stuff. Make sure thrust angle is dialed in, check for control arm bushings for deterioration and make sure rear caster is evened up.

Check out Hotchkis.net . They've been around in the Corvette world for a while. They have some sways for C7 both a set of front and rear or separately. Not badly priced. Good Luck...
