Default Low Dust Brake Pad Recommendations

I have a 2016 3LTZ51 and am looking for low dust brake pads. Right now driving around the block with the stock pads the wheels look like I drove 100 miles. What is out there that stops as good or better and doesn't dust like an Arizona dust storm? Searching the forum is a waste of time since all you seem to get is vendors trying to sell their stuff, I would like to hear from fellow owners of the car.

I went with Powerstop Extreme Z 26 pads. Stop almost as well as OEM Brembo pads but with very little dust. Put over 2000 problem free miles on them so far.

Carbotech is also used by many. A little pricier than Powerstop though.

Another vote for Powerstop. My Z51 now has zero dust and stops fine.

...and we now have vote #3 (for Powerstop Z26). Mine have been on now for ~4½ years and I have no complaints. Stopping power is unchanged for the type of driving I do, dust is reduced almost completely, and they were reasonably priced.

Me too. Put them on in 2014 about 1 week after I got the car. Clean and trouble free. No break-in period.

As a note: I put them on my 2007 Corvette too, worked great.

I run PowerStop Z23 on my Z51. The Z26 is the same compound, the only difference is the backing shim, in theory the Z23 are quieter. Compared to OEM they have a touch less bite but the overall stopping power is the same. No comparison in dust levels... the PowerStops are nearly dust-free as advertised. I have them on my truck and the wife's car as well, highly recommended.

I went with powerstop extreme Z26 pads. Great pad for the price and easy install. Got rid of the low speed squeal/hum from the OEM Brembo's as well.

1521's. Used them on my previous Corvettes, then my Viper, and now on my Z again.

PowerStops here as well. Virtually no dust. I also had the 1521's and was disappointed in amount of brake dust. Better than OEM but not that much better. PowerStops virtually leave nothing behind. However, i would not use them if you are tracking the car. I put the brembo's back on for track days and you can definitely tell a difference. The initial bite of the brembo's is greater than the powerstops, but they still stop very well, just not as good as brembo's and I don't think they would hold up on a track day.

BTW it's SUPER easy to change them yourself. I can barely put gas in the gas and I was able to change the pads. Jack car, take off lugs, use a small punch tool and knock out the pins, i think there is a bolt also, and then pads slide out. Takes me about 10-15 minutes per wheel.

2019 Grand Sport, 33k miles and tired of cleaning the OEM brake dust. Can I drop in a new set of powerstop pads now without doing anything to the rotors, or am I asking for trouble?

Do you know how much rotor is left? I would measure it first before doing anything.

If at 33,000 miles and your rotors are to thin, you have a bigger problem than brake pads. Shouldn't be a problem adding new pads.
