Default Updates while at the dealer

Asking for a 16 Stingray. If you are doing the triple flush, while it is there, are there any updates? I think someone mentioned the MRC and I tried a lookup at the TIS site but I don't understand what it is saying. How do you know, based on the VIN what exactly is left to be updated? TIA

Do you have a car with MRC? If so GM has offered a $350 upgrade to the calibrations for the MRC system which brings it up to the 2018/2019 level. It isn't an update it is an upgrade that is being sold by GM.

Here is the applicable information.

This information isn't included in the normal GM update info since it is a product that is for sale. The mechanic installing the upgrade has to call GM and get a file from them. Service Writers and some mechanics may not know the ins and outs of doing this since it falls outside of their normal procedures. Your best bet may be to start with the Parts Dept. At the time the price for the upgrade was $350.00 Total as it included the payment for the dealer to do the upgrade.

This diagram is 3 years old so the part numbers may have changed. GM loves to roll part numbers so there is a high likelihood they may have changed.

My dealer seems to be aware of it and the cost. I was curious if there were any other updates or upgrades they should do while they are having the car. The other one thst I asked, didn't seem to have a clue. Probably not going to work with them well.

The car doesn't need any updates unless you're having a specific problem, and GM has a service procedure the specifies a software update as a fix for that specific problem.

As Bill already said, the MRC upgrade is just that. An optional performance upgrade. You don't need it any more than you need an upgraded airbox or exhaust or wheels. I will say it's very good though. I have it on my car and I really like it.
