Default A/C blows warm air

Has anybody else experienced A/C blowing warm air for 10-30 seconds after starting from a stopped position?

What happens after 30 sec? No air conditioner or heat is instant on.

You always get ambient temp air until the A/C system cools down or the cooling system warms up to provide heat.

Normal on all cars. It takes a few seconds for the A/C to cool and then purge ambient air from the ductwork.

Heat takes even longer - a cold car needs to warm up enough for the thermostat to open before you can get heat. Typically a few minutes.

yessir.
I understand that but the car is at operating temperature when this is happening. None of my other cars, especially GM models have, nor or doing it now.
It’s fine traveling at highway speeds, but if stopped at a red light, or some other reason, after moving again, it blows warm air for 20 seconds or so, and starts blowing cold again.
Nothing normal about that.

OK, thought you meant engine off. Never had that issue on any car.

Does the radiator fan run when vehicle stopped / low rpm? It should run when the A/C is on regardless of coolant temp. Does the compressor clutch stay engaged? You should be able to hear it click / see the center of the pulley turn. Low freon may be an issue - low pressure my trip the compressor or low rpm may not push enough refrigerant.

Sorry about that!

Ron

no worries. I realize I didn’t include all of those details in the description.
no sir.
everything is engaged.
freon levels and everything else are good.
it only has 4,500 miles on it.
dealership has checked all of the above items (so they’ve said)
this is the third time they’ve had it in their shop to fix it…and they can’t.
kind of frustrating and I just thought I would throw it out here, to see if anybody else had the same issues and how it was resolved.
the first time in, they said they replaced the service valve. The second time, they said they replaced the expansion valve.
not sure what’s going on.
I love the car otherwise but at this point I’m ready to bust back to a ZL1. Lol.

Dealer needs to go through the troubleshooting steps in the service manual with the scan tool. I would expect some error code or problem to be observed. There are many components involved. I could be as "simple" as a loose wire or ground somewhere. There are too many possibilities to keep throwing parts at the problem.

One question I did not ask - do both driver's side and passenger side have the issue? Asking because each side has its own temp control blend door. Just a thought to possibly narrow down the issue. I believe these are electrically actuated and not vacuum actuated as in the past.

You may want to ask Chevy Customer Service to get involved or find another GM dealer.

Any Updates on this, C78353?

I agree w/ Ron on this. The dealer should be able to run through the necessary steps to pin this down. Also, as Ron said, I'd put both seat controllers on the same temp, and see if the warming is equal on both sides, and for the same length of time. If it Is, I'd be thinking that the compressor has turned off for some reason, while the car was stopped. In any case, I think you'll find something that is turning the system off at low/zero mph.

Ok…dealer just got back with me and said that it is a part of the programming called “engine stall prevention.”Apparently during takeoff I am a little too conservative…and not giving it enough fuel and the engine thinks that it is stalling out and the first thing that shuts down is the AC clutch.Have you ever heard of that, or are you familiar with this program and how it can be overridden?I asked him the same thing but he said General Motors could not override that.

That's a new one on me. I've been on the C7 forum since 2014 and have not heard of this.
