Hey all, Ive been looking into doing a full heads, cam, longtube catted headers, and e85 upgrade to my c7 gs
I got quoted from a reputable shop here in socal for about 10k all in. Does that price sound about right?
For those who have done a cam package how was drivability after getting it done? I plan on going with a relatively "baby" cam Stage 1-2 ish as im shooting for an OEM+ grandsport.
I track my car and im not looking for crazy HP numbers. and I also love driving like a retiree on my weekends so it must not loose its factory drivability and smoothness.
Im having a tough time finding good reviews on cam packaged and not just a recording of the car at idle with a monster cam haha
For all the parts & labor & a tune that is not to bad. But on the ungrade make sure you go with the bigger pushrods & at least a stage II cam. This way you will get a good amount of power & still not be going crazy on the cam.
I did the BTR STAGE II cam & DOD on that 4 banging crap. Also do the stock rocker upgrade. Robert
Although you might just think the race shops are looking for money, they really push these cars hard. Unless you are a car guy and do your own work/research, you probably get what you pay for.
It is an expensive powerful beast and you are wanting an even bigger beast.
Repairing the beast will cost WAY more after you broke it. And, your pride will be in the ******* thinking, "I should have gone with the proven shop"
Me, I do A LOT of research. Like months of research.
I'm going to have LG Motorsports here in TX do my build. It's normally aspirated and is ~600 at the crank. $17k. Includes all the usual stuff....ported MSD intake, Nick Williams ported 103mm tb, CNC heads, cam, low-side fuel system, headers, lifters, the tune, etc.
