Purchased a z06 with the dsx lowside pump installed, amongst other things. Quick question, how is the lowside module supposed to be hooked up electrically? Is it supposed to be active & in standby even when the car is off? For example if the car has been sitting and I open the door, without pressing the ignition button, if I step on the throttle pedal I can hear what I assume is the pump come on for the split second the pedal is depressed. Is this normal?
The system plugs in on the ebrake controller in the left rear quarter. There shouldn’t be any draw from this system. If you have a draw I’d be looking elsewhere unless someone installed this differently than suggested. It’s a pretty simple install and I don’t know why anyone would deviate from out it was designed. If you speak to Matt or Dave with dsx I’m sure they can elaborate.
I used to have one and there is only one way to plug it in so I doubt it’s hooked up wrong. The pump is supposed to run with the car off but ignition on. It allows you to pump out the tank if you need to in a fuel change.
He says "without pressing the ignition button". I assumed that meant he didn't put it in accessory mode, but you're right they do have that feature. Which is amazing btw.
The pump will come on if you press the gas pedal without pressing ignition button.
It does this after opening the door as the CAN bus system was awake. If you keep stay in the car long enough when the CAN bus goes back to sleep mode then the pump will not come back on until the system wakes up again.
