I joined specifically to post this message in order to get some help. There is a rather large back story to where I am now, which I will post if anyone is interested. Please note, I am not a mechanic, nor am I in American, or in the US of A. Yes, the plot is thickening already!
I have a 2015 Z51 Corvette and need an engine replaced/rebuilt (bottom of the engine was hit on the ground and the oil filter was dislodged, engine spun until the con rod arms damaged the crank - as far as I know!) I have found a replacement engine, but the engine is a Wet Sump vs the Z51 Dry Sump (I am correct here?)
My question is in 3 parts; can the Wet Sumped engine be Dry Sumped? Is there a kit for this? Is there any frame or mount work required, ie is it simple?
2nd; I have tried, unsuccessfully to get parts to rebuild the internal of my current engine. I have tried several places including Texas Speed, who are unable to get the Dry Crank or Oversized Pistons anytime soon - any suggestions of other places?
3rd; I do have a Z06 Engine in my possession Just the engine, no ancillaries ; how hard is a Z06 into a Z51 engine transplant? Worth pursuing at all?
Nothing is impossible, but that has to be an extreme swap. Wouldn't you need all the computers as well to even consider it? There may be some here that can chime in... good luck with the project
Also I believe that the C7 Z06 hood is taller than than the Stingray and Grand Sport hood just so it can accommodate the super charge lid cover on the LT4 and lets not forget the added intercooler system that would have to be installed for the supercharger !

You do not need any of the computers from a C7Z to use the LT4 in a LT1, just need to have the LT1 ECM/TCM to be tuned for the LT4. The ECM is the exact same one, the Operating System is the same as well so all of the tables are in the LT1 tune, just need to populate the tables and or change the ones for the mods the car will be running.

The LT4 block is the same block as the LT1 assuming dry sump to dry sump or wet sump to wet sump. The pistons in the LT4 are a lower compression than the LT1 pistons. So you are going to either want to change the pistons at the least or the pistons/rods and new rings. this is a great time to upgrade to forged pistons/rods.
I thought there was a sump conversion kit out there, I wouldnt think to convert it would be too hard.
