I purchased my 2016 Z in July of 2021, was hat an amazing ride. Decided to install a soler throttle body in August. In September on the way to corvette funfest the cel came on, car seemed to run fine with no problems. In October the battery went bad and I replaced it. Thinking the CEL was from the dead battery I thought it was fixed. After replacing the battery the cel came back on after about 10 miles. Bought a scanner yesterday and I have 2 permanent codes stored. P2273 and P16F3. Not sure what to do at this point because scanner will not clear codes. I'm thinking it's the soler throttle body at this point. Any help please. Thanks

P16F3 indicates an issue with the Engine Control Module Redundant Memory Performance. It is likely this DTC is due to a poor voltage or ground connection to the ECM. Check the battery cables to be sure they are clean and tight and make sure the battery ground is clean and tight where it connects to the frame.

P2273 indicates there is an issue with the bank 2 sensor 2 heated oxygen sensor being stuck at a rich level. If the ECM does not have sufficient electrical power due to poor voltage or ground connections the electrical signal from the O2 sensor might not be correct.

Making sure the electrical connections are clean and tight may clear both of these codes. Along with checking the battery ground connections check the ECM ground connections to be sure they are clean and tight.

I've checked all connections after the new battery. Not sure what I'm missing. Even had reduced engine power at one point. Disconnected battery it went away. After a few miles the CEL came back on. Didn't have any problems before I installed the soler throttle body. Thanks

Mike , even though it's an outside chance , why don't you put your OEM throttlebody back on...

Thanks, I was planning on doing that today just to rule it out. I'll go from there.

As far as your P2273 hook up your scan tool and see what your upstream and downstream O2 sensors are doing as far as the millivolt reading they are showing while the engine is running...if that downstream is reading way above 450mv (rich)…maybe 900mv and your upstream is normal (oscillating between 200-800mv) the sensor is "lying" !!...you can't have a lean or normal upstream and a rich downstream...to verify circuit integrity on engine shutdown remove the downstream O2 connector...if the scan tool now shows 450mv (bias voltage) the wiring is OK...change the sensor...if it still shows rich you have a wiring issue.

A new battery is no guarantee it's good. I've gotten a couple bad ones within months of each other. Have it checked, too. All the best.

Just a thought, did you perchance chance your engine's air filter recently?

I recently installed a K&N air filter. It is somewhat more robust than the OEM filters available, and because the cover of the filter housing needs to swing up into place due to the two fingers on the bottom side of the filter cover, it took me about three tries and a lot of moving the cover around to get the larger flange to seat properly into the cover's flange ring seat.

In the meantime, I got a couple of codes, P2227 and P2228, a check engone light and an "Engine Power Reduced" warning. At no time during all this did the performance change while operating the vehicle normally.

After getting the flange to seat correctly, the reduced power and CEL went away after several starts. The codes were clearable by my reader but there remains a permanent history of them that I can't delete so far.

One curious question? Was there a problem with the OEM throttle body that caused you to change it out? One other thought, sometimes when we do maintenance on one item, we disturb a connection of a fitting near where we were working or something we removed. Not sure what it takes to replace the throttle boddy but check the connections on anyting related that you removed/moved during your install.

Finally, the Soler throttle body could be the problem.

Jim

The car had a Holley intech air intake already installed when I bought the car last July, a forum member and good friend had a very little used soler throttle body for a Z06. I installed it for more performance, but kept getting a CEL. Every time I would clear the code it would come back after about ten miles. Recently put the original throttle body back on and going to see if the CEL comes back on. I'll go from there. Thanks

Ok,since I started this post, hopefully I can end it today. After reading all of the feedback from my post the only thing I found about the CEL is that I'm an idiot. Raised the hood today and doing one final check. I glanced over and saw the air intake tube halfway out of the filter box. Are you kidding me. Took that all apart and started over. Reinstalled the soler throttle body. Now I'll see what happens next. Thanks for all of the replies from everyone, but it was just my stupid oversight.

Mike that is great news .... and if you think you are the only one that did something "stupid" you are sadly mistaken 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can list a few things I have done even though I double checked my work...

One of the biggest mistakes people make when installing an aftermarket intake is not disconnecting the battery before disconnecting the MAF so you can transfer it over, for the life of me I have no idea why , if the car is off and "asleep" why this would set a code on startup but it does sometimes 😀

After market intake was already installed. Swapped throttle body in August. Must have been that way since. Didn't even notice until today.

Soler had some issues with a batch of TBs awhile back. My buddy was having some issues with his after he installed it with his Supercharged. Confirmed with Soler and they sent him a replacement.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Hopefully I found the issue is fixed. Just need to put a few more miles on it.

MikeZ51,
Are you still having issues with Soler TB or was it the air intake issue causing the code? I was thinking of buying one, but wanted to make sure it doesn't cause problems.

No CEL so far. But really haven't driven it a whole lot. Pretty sure it was the intake tube.
