Default Brey Krause or Sharkbar

I am completing my seat conversions and need to get the harness bar ordered. From the pictures it appears the Brey Krause ends up positioning the shoulder belts higher than the Sharkbar? Anyone have real world advice on this? I am 5'9 if that matters.

I am leaning to the Vetteworks belt bar vs. the Brey Krause. Again, open to comments.

I plan on using the Schroth Profi II ASM 4 Point Harness (Anti-Sub) for starters. I am intermediate HPDE, no wheel to wheel.

Appreciate any comments.

do you have comp seats?

I would do bk belt anchors. Puts the belts at a more proper location and angle.

The BK bar is better since you can upgrade to race seat later and still use it. For the shark bar you’d have to set the race seat pretty low to still use it. Like if you were over 6’ . Shark bar will work if you never plan to use a race seat. It’s cleaner looking too.

I have the shark bar right now but to change to race seat I’ll have to put the seat on the floor and hope it still works.

Yes, will have Competition Seats by end of weekend.

Thanks for the reply.

Do the bk belt anchors offer a solution to sub belt mounting down the road, or just the lap belts?

The BK belt anchors for the C7 were originally described as providing sufficient room to attach both lap and sub belt clips thus permitting the Formula Belt Installation that used to be described in the Schroth Competition Instructions. When I had trouble attaching sub belt clips in the mounting holes along with the lap belt snap clips due to the small diameter of the hole I called BK and they told me they didn't support that usage anymore and the description on the website has changed.

I have run my C7 with both the lap and sub belts attached to the BK mount but the snap clips fight with each other and can under certain circumstances pinch the skin on the side of your hips. This usage means you sit on the sub belt and they sort of loop around your legs similar to the way the Team Tech Jet Pilot Harness does.

The Schroth Profi F (Formula) Model is a more accurate description of how the belts are mounted using the BK mounts.

These two pictures of my Driver's Seat show how the sub belt and the lap belt clips are attached to the BK mount. First, the sub belt, then the sub belt and lap belt together:

You may note the cam belt on my Schroth Profi belt has the red highlighted Press button on it. This version meets Federal Motor Vehicle Standards for street operation. Emergency responders know to look for that release button. The other lower-cost version is the Race Cam Lock which is a normal-style cam lock but doesn't meet Federal MV standards. One thing I found out is the need to use cotter pins in all of the snap clips to make sure they don't unclip themselves as your body moves around.

Schroth also makes belt mounts that can be bolted to the OEM belt mounts but I don't know if they are long enough to reach above the seat like the BK versions. One advantage of the Schroth mounts is they can be twisted to fit.

Thanks Bill,

I have ordered Sharkbar and the bk lap belts mounts. I also ordered belts, but not anti sub. I believe after reading about the design of the upper straps allowing for upper body movement similar to 3 point, I’m am no worse off safety wise, and should be held better in the seat during lapping.

I utilize the method of having seat slid back, locking 3 point, then powering seat forward to get very snug. Do folks do the same with 4 point? Was not sure if this is needed, as I have never used a harness before.

Some groups won't let you run with a 4-point harness even if it is an ASM harness. That is when you need the sub belt so you can pass their tech inspection.
