Default Track Tire Pressures

Simple Question? What do you all run for tire pressure on a track day. I have a 2016 Z51, stock tires and wheels. Door panel says 30 psi for DD.

Think the owners manual is 26 or 27 PSI Cold Might refer to it.

The OM states the TP should be set to 26 psi when taking the car on track. From the 2016 OM section on Track Prep:

Tire pressure is defined in load limit paragraph. This is the same tire pressure the folks at Spring Mountain told us to use when we were attending the C7 New Owner's school. Reset pressure to 30 psi when driving on the street.

26 PSI is a good start, and would work. GM also recommends tires at at least 26 PSI for any speed above 140 MPH(might be remembering it from Camaro's manual), so it's also a safe number. If you were to take a pyrometer with you and took measurements, though, you'd likely find that you're running a few PSI above optimal..

On track with street tires for HPDE you should target 32 psi hot at the end of your session. 26 cold is a good place to start. The amount of temperature increase will vary depending on the driver, track, and ambient temperature. Targeting the hot temp covers all those variables.

I set my cold pressures in the morning and then adjust my hot pressures after the second session of the day.

I think the issue GM has with recommending hot pressures is what does hot mean? It is hard enough trying to communicate what cold pressure means let alone what hot pressure means. How hot is hot? They could say when the tire tread reads 190 degrees but you need to have a contact temperature meter to get an accurate temp. That is far too complicated for the general run of the mill driver in the US who has considerable trouble figuring out what cold pressure means.

I’ve been targeting 32psi hot. I just bought a pyrometer and I plan to experiment with it the next time I’m on the track

I run 30's cold... just to preserve tire life. I feel no slippage or anything detrimental to handling at higher pressures.
I run CUP2's & MPSS's on track.

End of session I was well above 35, so I bleed off during the day time.

2017 Z06/Z07 A8, Cup 2's, track only car, I've found almost always I have to start as low as 21/22 PSI, as I'm regularly up to 35-37 PSI even after my first 20-25 minute session of the day, assuming ambient temps > 60 degrees, from June to early October. Most of my time is at Road America, very high speed track.
