Default Z07 Pros and Cons

I am new to the forum. Literally, just a couple of days. Although I am certain my question has already been posted at some point, I am unable to locate it.
I'm in the market for a Z06. I found one that is a few years old, but it has the Z07 package. The car I buy, will be a daily driver. Well taken care of, but a daily driver nonetheless. It will NEVER see track time.
I am looking for opinions. Will the Z07 be a rougher ride than what I could get with a Z06 without the Z07 package? Should I have concerns about getting the Z07 package on a car that will never be tracked? What are the Pros and Cons to getting a car with the Z07 package? Not worried about the cost portion of the Z07 package, just the performance, upkeep, and anything else that I'm not thinking of.
Thank you in advance for any help you provide in my decision making.

Two things come to mind, yes the ride will be harsher!
#2 Brakes can be very expensive to replace a lot of track people have switched back to iron brakes so that may be something you would do!

If it'll never see track time, or even occasional track time, then the carbon ceramic brakes will probably last the life of the car. Definitely be aware of the steep replacement cost for them. They look and feel amazing though.

My Z07 Grand Sport is a little rougher than my MRC equipped Z51 was, but I also haven't done the MRC software upgrade yet. I'm thinking of doing that in a couple months. It made a pretty noticeable difference on my Z51. It made sport mode much more usable in the real world. It didn't make the car softer or less responsive. It just took the sharp edges off some of the surface impacts.

This may not be the easiest thing to do, but try to take it on an extended test drive on some mixed road surfaces. One man's sports car feel is another man's rough ride. So you're really the only one that can answer the question of what's 'too rough'.

My Z06 w/Z07 was very rough, so much so if you hopped out of Z06 to a Z07 you'd notice it the first block.. but after magnetic ride update the touring mode makes care much more livable on rough surfaces and day to day. Amazing cars on the track.. I would suggest at least do a track day

I just picked up a Z06 with CCB. I was unsure of them, but the car literally checked every single box of what I wanted. I'm shocked how much I love these brakes. I'm a weekender not a daily driver, but when you're deep into the throttle and realize you should slow down, these things stop like a parachute. Solid feel. No fade. They can be abused by steel standards and virtually never wear out. The only drawback for me is limited wheel fitments. They'll be dammed expensive if the day ever comes, but that's a big if depending on how you use the car.

It sucks that the stock wheels are prone to cracking, because I really like most of the styles.

I had a 17Z with Z07 and thought it rode perfectly fine. I love the CCBs as well as the Z07 aero. I will be back in a 19Z with Z07 if the C8 doesn’t live up to my expectations.

Forged wheels are available in both GS and Z06 styling; I have forged GS wheels on my car. They have a slight difference in the depth of the "dish" to avoid patent infringement per the manufacturer.

I've done a fair bit of window shopping for wheels. There's quite a few good options. I'm just saying it'd be nice not to 'have' to replace them at all. The stock wheels look good and you don't have to hunt around to find the right fit.

I’ve had a car with the z06 suspension and now z07 suspension. If it will never see track time, don’t get the z07 in regards to ride harshness. Also the competition seats look great but the seat bottoms are noticeably stiffer and less comfortable.

The base z06 suspension is a perfect mix of compliant , soft and sporty if turned to sport or track. Z07 is way too stiff for daily driving on anything but perfect roads. It’s doable but annoying when compared to even econoboxes like a Chevy cruze.

This is the best advice for the OP. The front spring rate on the FE7 suspension is 62% higher than on the FE6 and the rear spring rate is 22% higher, which makes a significant difference in the ride quality. For a street-driven-only Z06 the non-Z07 car is a better option IMO.

GS w/Z07 here. Mine is just a toy and frankly I could not imagine DDing it. In SW PA the roads are just not conducive for it. Maybe if you are in the south or west it might be different. If you find 2 to compare and all other options being equal save for Z07, get the non-Z07 car. If that’s not an option to wait for, I don’t think the Z07 car will disappoint you. You just might need to adjust your expectation of comfort a little. MRC update might help a little if it hasn’t been done. Good luck on your choice!

I have driven 2 Zo6 cars with the Zo7 package and did not like the ride at all. Great for a track car though.

the z06 z07 front is much stiffer than the gs front for what it’s worth. The gs only has a thicker bar , not different springs.

Well that sent me down an interesting rabbit hole. Started looking up part numbers and you're absolutely right. I'm glad there's still stuff worth learning here. Thanks.

research the dsc controller module. seems to transform the car when you have mag ride even on a z07 package
