I just replaced my plugs and wires last night. When removing the pcv tube on the drivers side on the end that connects to the valve cover what looked like a ball bearing dropped out. Happened so fast I only caught a quick glimpse of it as it went into the engine bay lost for ever!
Could that have been the check valve for it?
I reassembled everything and the car is running fine without that piece just wondering without in the end of that hose am I going to hurt anything until I can get a replacement?
I'm not certain, but I don't believe that PCV line has a factory installed check valve. I've had mine off more than a few times and don't recall anything like that. I even replaced the plastic hose with a braided line and don't recall a check valve on either end. That just sounds odd to me.
Ok, Maybe someone put a ball bearing in there as a check valve? I don't know? I have pulled it off twice after some pretty spirited driving and no oil in the line at all. Not sure why someone would have put that in there. I just picked up the car about a month ago and just started doing all the maintenance. Plugs, wires, air filter, clutch fluid replacement, trans fluid replacement, Diff fluid replacement, rotors and pads all the way around. she's got 93k on here and I figured why not knock it all out at once.
Like I said did not see anything my 2019 last time I looked. Will look again tomorrow on mine if it helps. Makes me aware this could be something I run into in the future! So, thanks
The pcv lines to the intake absolutely DO have check valves in the elbows at the valve covers. There is no problem with loosing one or both of them. The reason I know this is because the instructions to install the ECS supercharger system says to remove them. Go to their website and look up the instructions you’ll see.
Kind of scary that it fell out when it was disconnected good thing it didn’t happen while it was connected and have a ball floating around in your engine, edit - probably would not be the case with the pcv baffels in the valve cover.
You remove them when you go to super charged because they can stay closed and pop out your front main engine seal from the boost blow by. The check valves are an unnecessary emissions requirement.

Yes was scary if that ball fell into the valve cover! I lucked out. Thanks for the info
Just picked up a 2017 Stingray. Noticed the connector on the left side of this picture must have broke prior, was glued, now I've re-glued for a temporary solution. What is the name of the item on the left where it connects, Looks like the primary air. I probably need to replace that, but being a newbie, just can't figure out what that is called. Thanks, Eric.
