Z51 clutch install
Hey guys throwing a new clutch in the car as the old one was shot. I see most guys are saying 12-16 hours for install as the z51 has oil coolers etc etc. anyone done one recently with real world experience? Is the time frame if 12-16 hours about right or should I expect 20 hours plus?

There are many variables on the time frame. Such as do you have a lift? What clutch are you installing? Is the car stock or modified? Experience level? Tools? To answer the first question a clutch can easily be installed 12-16 hours.

yes he has a lift, taking out a Mantic triple and installing a monster triple., modified yes. It’s got a ysi and all supporting mods. Experienced installer he has his own speed shop,

The trickiest part is the fact you’re dealing with a triple disc. There isn’t enough room to get the bellhousing off or back on. He has a couple choices but no matter what the motor will have to be lowered at the very least when the drivetrain is out to get it together. He may just drop the whole powertrain and then split it apart. I suppose he could pull the motor and leave the drivetrain but that may prove to be very difficult lining up the assembly. Either way if he can do that in 12 hours it would be pretty impressive. Unless he’s done several and with your mods I would think this will be a 20 hour + adventure.
