New owner of a '14 c7. Did a 7k trip. I drove through some construction mud. thus went through a hands free car wash and the trunk popped open while inside... beats me how, but I was stuck! fried the amp with water damage, as I could smell the "burned electrical" smell. Replaced amp with new GM. Infotainment comes on, radio, etc. plays, but only one speaker works - driver mid range in door near knee level. No turn signal sound, nor can I hear when making hands free call. Seems others can hear me when I call. Nav voice also does not work. I have searched and searched, but have not come across this particular "problem". Tried lots of cures, but to no avail. Trying to avoid expensive and lengthy trip to dealer. New amp bad? Something else blown from water in rear hatch? Thanks for hearing me out and offering any input
Had the same problem needed to replace amp
easy install you can buy
on eBay for half the price once installed your dealership will need to flash the amp or it won’t work they charged me $100
hope this helps
Thanks for reply! Replaced with new gm amp. Still needs to be “reflashed”, and only at dealer? Dealer did not mention anything needing programmed/flashed.
A brand new amp will need to be programmed by a GM dealer.
A used amp will work as-is, as it was already programmed from the donor car.
Note that there is a different amp part number depending on if you have the Bose subwoofer (2LT and 3LT trim level) or no subwoofer (1LT). The subwoofer is behind the rear cargo back wall trim, which will have a grill if there is a subwoofer.
If you buy a GM part and it has this icon on it, it needs to be programmed.
Sometimes you can use used parts that have already been programmed. But you're just as likely to screw up your car if the programming from the donor car doesn't exactly match the year and options for your car. A lot of times these things need VIN or security code relearns regardless.
Thank you for the feedback and confirmation. I have been calling every dealer in Colorado, and not one of them has ever heard of an amp needing "flashed" or reprogramed... Any idea why that is? I have the 2LT, with the sub-woofer in back. Bought the correct amp for 2lt... presumably! Is there something I am not telling/explaining to the dealer correctly?
Do they know you replaced the part yourself, with a brand new one? I just don't get these guys. GM has been doing programmable modules for close to 30 years. This is not new to them.
Tell them you put a brand new amp in, but you didn't know it needed to be programmed and set up with SPS (Service programming system). Hopefully that'll jumpstart their thought process.
Don't be surprised if they want to bill you an hour or more of shop time though. Plan on $150 or more, easy.
That's my fear... they are eager to bill, even though we know what the "problem" is! Tried to buy amp from dealer... if purchased direct from dealer $900, if purchased from GM on-line, $500. Crazy system! I have tried to tell them exactly what has happened, and replaced with new GM amp. EVERY dealer in the state I have called says the new amp should be "plug and play", with no programming/flashing. When I tell them the forums indicate it needs programming they have said, "Never heard of that"! Any one have a dealer I can call for confirmation, who has done this very thing?
Called service tech, re-explained the issue and what I need... they looked it up in the manual, and yes, needs programing!!! Appt. tomorrow 8am. I'll post, hopefully "good news" tomorrow after I receive the car back. A lot of headache for a seeming no-brainer issue!

I did buy a new one through GM and installed myself and radio started working fine as did CarPlay although waze does not sound out instructions. Furthermore, the turn signal Noise and right side of car speakers are not working and no sound coming out when I receive phone calla although callers hear me. We’re all these problems resolved when you took the car to the dealer and had this new amp reflashed?
Any info will be appreciated.
Would like to make sure before I take to the dealer since I don’t wanna be hosed. Not sure what this does.
yet. Callers can hear me and the navigation instructions through Waze seem to be playing just can’t hear them. Not sure if that might not have anything to do with a small little square module that is attached on the floor, which I have no clue what it does. As it being so low, it probably got wet also when water got into the trunk.
