Default LSX/LT1 question

I realize this is probably a semi silly question. I am looking at getting a 427 engine built. Some of the engines I see in the 427 short blocks are noted LSX. Are LSX blocks pretty much straight drop in's or is there significant differences? I was planning on getting my LT1 heads ported and reusing. I have quite a list of parts already and just curious. My like, the coolant holes in the block wouldnt match the lt1 head or something crazy.

On that same note, Short of LME, Texas Speed and Katech. Anyone have and recommended engine builders? I am open to short blocks and long blocks. Not sure if it is worth getting a long block and then selling my engine, buying a short block and using my parts or having my block built. Based off some numbers, I dont think the last option is that much cheaper. I could be wrong.

I have run/installed several LME motors and they all have been fantastic. If looking for myself that is who I would go with. The others all have a good reputation but my comments are based on my own personal experience.

I have no doubt about LME being excellent. Did you buy their short block or long block?
