I am experiencing a funny clutch pedal on my 2014. For some reason my clutch pedal is not returning to its home position. I actually have to grap it with my foot to bring the pedal up. When I now press it down the first several inches of travel it is not placing any pressure on the pressure plate. My clutch is also very grabby when I release it from the floor. Is my master clutch cylinder going to stop working?
Yes, obviously try the quick and cheap fix first (less than $20 and 30 minutes). You don't really know if the master cylinder or slave cylinder is faulty. Your symptoms have been cured by doing the Ranger procedure for many of us.
I now feel pretty dumb. I have a tendency to skip the obvious and instead look for something not so obvious. I checked the clutch fluid reservoir. It just needed some fluid. Clutch pedal came to life. I will do the ranger method just to clean up what is in there since 2014. I did have some difficulty finding Dot 4 fluid. Was told by Advance Auto that there is a nationwide shortage of Dot 4. I ended up having to purchase a quart size container.
