Need some help. Leaving a stop light under normal acceleration in traffic and the car lurches and shudders then goes into what seems like a limp mode of some sort and is stuck in 4th gear. Got a warning message "service suspension" and the engine light is on. Had car serviced a week ago and put fuel in it this morning. Is there a reset procedure or is this symptomatic of a larger problem? Thoughts anyone?

Automatic. The car is stuck in 4th gear, won't downshift or upshift. Will go into Park but when shifted back to D, it goes back to 4th gear. Seems to be some sort of limp mode.
If you have a CEL you have a CODE , some codes are not readable by cheaper code readers and can only be read by advanced units that can access all the modules
Anything offered up here is only going to be a wild guess without knowing the code as there are a million reasons why the car would react as it has
I would remove the battery cable and wait 15 minutes then connect it to see if the car goes back to normal , if it does , take it somewhere that can diagnose the problem as the code will still be in the history when read

Five or so years ago this would occasionally show up with the use of a Range device with outdated software. But this is unlikely the current problem unless you are using an ancient Range AFM disabler.
Otherwise, this has been a battery issue and/or communications error.
I would disconnect the battery, leave it for a bit, and reconnect it.
