2018 Grand Sport, new Forgeline wheels with 5-6mm greater offset, stock size, Michelin all season run flats.
Handles great... Just wondering if new alignment is needed to prevent excess wear. Street use only. Thanks!
If you have never had the car aligned to remove some of the rear camber, now is the time to do it. I had the rear camber on my 19 GS changed from -1.1 degrees to -.05 degrees to take a little pressure off of the inside edge of the wheel and spread tire wear across the tread. I do drive spiritedly but not aggressively so I did not notice any difference in handling and a big difference in tire wear.
I'm a firm believer that when you change tires and new wheels with tires, you should get an alignment. Tires are awfully expensive and you risk damaging or losing a significant amount of mileage from the new tires by not having it aligned. I think its along the same line as buying a corvette and running 87 octane to save money.
An area that is often not realized (and/or overlooked) when changing tires/wheels is toe. Toe changes when tire diameters change and although the size on the tires show the same size as the one you took off, more often than not actual measurements do vary between tire manufacturers so after you change tires/wheels it is a good idea to have an alignment done, just my two cents worth.
I don't have the alignment changed unless there is a tire wear issue due to the alignment. The reason is I could be much worse off after somebody makes changes than before. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
If the Rear Camber is adjusted it will change the Rear Caster so they will have to adjusted together. Alignment Machines cannot Measure or Display Rear Caster. You will need to find a shop that Rear Caster Tool.
