Options for enabling Active Exhaust (NPP)
I realize adding NPP has been covered before, however I've not seen this question answered before .I've put NPP mufflers and actuators on my non NPP car, furthermore, I've added the missing factory wiring to the transmission harness to include the connectors for the actuator valves (the wiring is already present from the CCM to X311), which connects the transmission harness to the fuel tank harness. I'll post up the parts I used later, but honestly most of the information needed wiring wise is sitting in Alldata.
However, it also seems I need to enable NPP in the CCM. I see two possible options to do this:
1) Purchase HPTuners and CCM credits, widely covered on Youtube, etc how to tune the NPP option.
2) Purchase a GM MDI2 interface and use acdelco techline connect to retrieve the calibration and diagnostic calibration that enables NPP. However, in order to do this, I would have to use a VIN number from a car that is the same model year, same trim level as mine, but happens to have the NPP option (which is easy enough to find). My question is: If I use a different VIN number in order to retrieve the NPP calibration and program the CCM with it, will it still function in the car? It's not clear to me if the VIN number is even programmed into the CCM the same way it is programmed into the powertrain control module so perhaps this is a non-issue. Has anyone tried this (essentially fibbing about the VIN number to get the calibration to enable an RPO option)?
