I haven't even had this car for a month and I'm missing that exhaust note I had on my Z.
2014 Z51 M7 NPP and stock (for now), I'm looking to install headers, cats and x-pipe but keep the stock mufflers. If you've gone this route, what's your opinion? Worth it?

I have 2” ARH long tube headers with O/R cats and stock NPP mufflers. It is plenty loud with the exhaust valves open and quite aggressive sounding with them closed. But I have a built motor. I think you’ll be pleased with the results.
I would also stash that original exhaust in the attic or basement. Something makes me think this world is gonna be a lot different some day.
I also have ARH long tube headers with hi flow cats and stock NPP mufflers. I was absolutely floored at how aggressive the sound is just installing the ARH LTs and X-pipe... first time my wife rode with me she exclaimed, "You're going to jail!" I don't know if her reaction was centered on the A&A boosted acceleration or the exhaust note, but either way, I'm really pleased.
I used to tell people Corvette's are aurally angry, but mine is menacingly vengeful... bwahaha!

Exactly! I mean, I'm impressed at how good the stock exhaust sounds, much better than in the past. Buuut... it could definitely sound better!! I absolutely LOVE the NPP feature! I'm most likely going to keep the stock mufflers and all.

Well, after a few pleasant mashes on the go peddle, I was glad to have NPP when a county cruiser pulled in behind me... switched over to Touring and pulled away from the light in near silence... all I could hear was the air escaping the BOV.
Before you change the mufflers just do your other mods. I think you'll be surprised at how good the stock mufflers sound with headers.
I did the full mod suite on my car and it sounds really good with the stock NPP exhaust. And it's LOUD at full song now.
I agree. The stock NPP mufflers are WAY underrated. They flow extremely well when wide open and are very quiet when closed. IMHO anyone that removes the stock NPP mufflers to replace with straight pipes or something louder is either a fool or has some kinda ego problem. Maybe TDS?

Weight savings for someone with deep pockets could be a reason. Titanium is too rich for my blood. A good set of forged wheels would save weight in better places and be a better investment.
