Picked up a set of Z06 Exhaust manifolds, decided to port them... 1) they will look better than the rusty stock ones and 2)Hopefully picked up a few ponies. Gasket matched at the flange and then opened up the center runners. I finished by using a 1 3/4 flex hone first 80 then 120 grit to smooth the inside of the runners slightly. Still need some clean up, then a coat of VHT Flameproof.
Holley/Hooker was selling shorty tubular manifold "headers" that mated up to the factory cats but weighed significantly less than stock. I was planning on buying a set in a couple of years for when it came time to pull the AFM lifters out of my car and do the cam, but sadly, they sold so poorly that they've been discontinued.
Are you removing a significant amount of material?
