Battery leaked a bit and set up corrosion on the battery hold down bracket. Not sure but looks like its glued to the bottom of the tray. Needs to be removed to clean it properly. Anyone out there ever remove this bracket? Tray is fiberglass and the bracket is steel. Don't want to crack out the tray.
I browsed Helms for 20 minutes and I don't see where or how to remove or replace the battery tray. Crap, I'm not much help. Sorry.
Can the dealer order the tray? If so, that might give you the clue once you have it in hand as to how to remove the existing tray without breaking too much stuff while doing it,
Its not the tray, its taking the battery hold down bracket. I'll send pictures.
I'm getting an optima battery so there won't be any acid to leak.
look at the interstate agm mtx48 / h6 battery. 760 cca and 231$ vs 800 cca and 400$ for the optima. optima quality gone downhill since the company was sold
Damn, too late ordered the optima earlier, and who bought them? The chi-coms? They probably own Interstate too. Probably made in the same chi-com factory.

clarias owns optima and the batteries are made in Mexico. interstate batteries are made in the usa
Using a thin puddy knife I managed to pry the bracket loose, it was glued to the bottom of the battery tray. Attached is a pic of the lower side, under the car with the screwdriver pointing the hold down bracket. You can see the white powder corrosion on the bracket, its made of aluminum. Better check for leaking batteries if they are lead acid. there is a bracket under the tray that can be damaged.
