OBD service computer/app for maintenance tasks or coding?
This 2014 C7 is new to me, and I'm wondering if common maintenance tasks like changing brake pads, resetting time/mileage intervals, or coding feature behaviors requires a special service computer or app that connects through the OBD port?
I'm coming from the German car world where these types of brand/model specific functions require more than just an OBD reader. We use VCDS, OBDEleven, Carly, etc.
Is there a similar Corvette/Chevy/GM tool ? Or maybe not necessary?
Setting vehicle choices is done from the infotainment screen, settings. Play around and you'll be able to set features to your preferences. Dash display is set using the 4 arrow keys under your right thumb on the steering wheel as is resetting the oil life monitor. Nothing required for brake pad changes, new tire pressure sensors, or any normal maintenance.
Download the 2014 Owner's and Infotainment manuals from links up in the C7 General / Sticky Threads section and look at the Vehicle Personalization section, then sit in the car and explore the menus and settings.

Changing brake pads doesn't require any computer access. Pad wear on iron brake cars is detected through the use of brake squealers mounted on the brake pads. When the pads wear down to the point they need to be replaced you will hear a loud scraping noise when applying the brakes. Pad wear on the Z06 and GS CCM brakes is detected through an electrical circuit that is broken when the pads need to be replaced.
Resetting the Oil Life Monitor just requires reading the OM and following directions using the car's onboard systems without any need for a scan tool.
To do diagnostics on the car you will need a GM MDI 2 or equivalent scan tool that can read all of the codes the car can possibly generate and is also able to send commands to the car's systems for diagnostic purposes. An OBD II scanner can't read all of the codes that can be generated for windows, door locks, seats, radios, HVAC, etc.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
