Default A8 transmission

Does anyone know if the dealer (and therefore GM) will have an issue with my warranty if I installed a larger transmission pan. I'm wondering if I'm going to have to revert to the stock pan anytime I go to the dealer.

A better question would be " why do you think you need a bigger pan " ?

you can ponder on that one. I already have the larger pan. I was looking for information on GM warranty issues. Thanks for the input though

If it caused a failure, yes. If not, no. So if your rear end falls apart, it has nothing to do with the pan. However, if the trans fails because of a lubrication issue, well.....

Yes, I understand that. I was curious if anyone with GM shop foreman experience could share their opinion on if this is frowned upon. Shouldn't be a "lubrication issue" especially with the added fluid (unless it leaked - which the same can be said about the stock pan).

The reason why ask is because the stock pan is on over 200,000 C7 autos that range from garage qweens to cars that are raced regularly, behind stock motors and motors that make in excess of 900 HP . It's not a unit that fails much more than any other heavy duty trans and if you are worried about a denied warranty claim why bother ..😆😆 why do u think it needs "more lubrication " , maybe more cooling ... but that would be with a bigger trans cooler not a larger capacity pan

PS no need for the snarkey answer , we are here to help and it was a legitimate question

Dave

Depending on the tech. Some are OK with the mods and others are anti-mod ***** who want to nail your *** because you offended the great Ford or GM or whatever car manufacturer they work for.

Hello Dave,

the "snarky" response as you put it is due to the derailing of the thread that you are attempting. I didn't ask if a larger pan would be good or necessary, yet you still insist of giving your opinion. Please start a new thread (button on the upper left) and ask why some might want a larger pan. You might also want to ask Tadge, Katech, and LG why they seem to understand that the A8 overheats in extreme conditions at the track. I think I have been polite in answering your questions (derailing and off topic as it may be).

Okay thanks, fair enough. Any dealer in Socal that would be more likely to look the other way at "distractions"

But it is exactly what you are doing. Also, yes, its cooling through lubrication. Again, please start a new thread and ask your question.

Dealership mechanic's are just like NBA referees or traffic cops. If you have mods on, or related to, failed parts, they'll either bend you over or say no harm, no foul. The only safe way to deal with these types is total avoidance. Take personal responsibility in those areas that you made changes to the original design.

Haha, okay, I'll take responsibility. Thanks for the advice. I understand the Magnuson-Moss act, just don't want to deal with drama (just like in this thread)
