Default Solar settings

Just purchased throttle controller from a forum member. Couldn’t find much on what settings people are using. So, what settings are people using most? Stock 2014 M7 btw…….

I use sport 7 but sport 5 was the most common answer when I was setting mine up.

whichever setting feels best to you, there is no "right" or "wrong" if all you're looking for is physical comfort.

I have a Z06; and I run mine on Comfort 9 most of the time. I find that any of the Sport settings make the throttle too touchy for when I'm driving casually. When I'm in the mood for more aggressive driving, I'll typically put it in Sport 3 or 4.

FWIW, Sport 5, which I understand provides the most "linear" response, is the sweet spot for my Z06.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Don’t know if the Z06 is as lazy as the non but back in the day my father owned a 71 Z28 and believe it or not my mother drove a 65 convertible mustang. Compared to the mustangs throttle response, the “Z28” was really lazy just like the C7’s. Hopefully as I’ve read this controller really wakes it up and trying to get a setting to start out this coming spring.

if you're expecting performance benefits, do keep in mind that there are none to be had with a throttle controller. you'll get the exact same effect just by pushing the throttle pedal a little further.

I understand no performance benefits. But I owned a Nissan Titan and went to a Toyota Tundra and you would swear the Titan had more than the Tundra but didn’t. It was all in the throttle response the Titan had. I also have had every toy you can imagine but snowmobiles are something I’ve had all my life and lower horse sleds with awesome throttle response are just more fun to drive than a bigger sled with less. I hope this is what I believe I will get with the controller.

This is exactly what you will get with the controller.

Yeah, if you're going after a twitchier throttle, then an aftermarket throttle controller is exactly what you need!

Not sure I agree with your "twitchier" description. I wanted my throttle to provide more consistent and linear response. That's exactly what my Solar TC and TB do, with no "twitchiness."

I think the discussion here is only on the TC, not the TB. I would expect TB+TC response to be excellent.

Can just the TB be installed (with good results), without the TC?

I installed mine sequentially, with neither causing any problem. The TB alone reduces stumble off the line, but leaves the OEM throttle's non-linear response unchanged. The TC addresses that nicely.

The presense of absence of the upgraded TB does not change the fact that Sport 5 provides the most "linear" response.

did the same, quite the difference, went even further and installed the 19' gas pedal a few months back.
its amazing I can drive the car without stalling..... almost...
If I could bump the idle up a tad I think I would be where I need to be. If I even get a tune I will ask for that.
I started alittle above factory to ease into it but I am on SP.8 I think now.

I also did the same, starting with the throttle body. As others note, the TB greatly reduced the flat response/stumble from idle.

Both products are well worth the price in the improvements they provide.

I will say on my Z07 car, I noticed that I could move at almost a crawl in a parking lot without any jerkiness or throttle hunting wit the Soler TB alone. DLX controller allowed me even more control over throttle. I usually start my season in a lower setting since roads are cold and I was down for Winter, but once I get back in the groove I run around in Sport 5 most of the time.. I did use comfort 3 for a parade last year.. was nice to be able to putt along without baking my tires lol

okay I'm starting to think there's something wrong with my c7.

is it normal for a c7 to burn out when trying to put around a parking lot?

so what's the thinking here? the factory GM throttle body has poor control at near-closed positions, and the soler TB fixes this?
