My 2014 had the dashboard light up with warning lights suddenly . Engine light blinking, ran like crap. Got code p0300. Mechanic say one whole bank is dead. Doing compression test today. I was a 1970's mechanic so don't understand problem. Computer?
How did your mechanic determine one whole bank was dead ??...a P0300 is a random cylinder misfire and a blinking MIL is a possible "cat damaging" misfire… you you don't want to be driving around too much with this or you'll be buying a catalytic converter...the whole way a bank could be dead would be if underhood fuse 27 or 28 were to be blown which handles all the odd and even ignition coils or if you had a bad O2 sensor that was "stuck" rich pulling all the fuel on that bank which would cause all the cylinders on that bank to misfire or even a bad crankshaft position sensor...not a hard diagnosis but 99.9 % of independent shops or dealership would have trouble...they replace parts and don't know how to diagnose...put away your compression gauge !!...it's doubtful you have 4 dead cylinders...LOL !!...these days I do "relative compression" tests with a labscope and I don't even have to open the hood and I can do it from the drivers seat...if you were a 70's mechanic didn't we call it the "brain" back then and not the computer...I'm not much younger than you...no computers back then...LOL !!...if you want to find a shop to do the diagnosis look for a DIAGNOSTIC shop and not an indie or dealership...don't know what part of the country you're in but I know some good diagnostic shops around the U.S.
P0300 is misfire on a big scale. So, one bank is dead??? No spark? No fuel? No signal to inject fuel. Too many things to guess without more codes or testing gear on the car. Going to need a little more from the mechanic to tighten down on possible "one bank is dead" trouble.
South Shore I know your going to stay Corvette Doctors in Amityville but I have extended warranty thru CarMax
Unfortunately I put Corvette “speciality” shops in the same category as indie shops and dealerships…they only change Corvette parts…LOL !!…if you do take it somewhere let us know what they find…if they only had to change one part to fix it they guessed right.
