Default Front Crank Seal Leaking

So I'm driving down to Florida and I smell oil when I stopped to get fuel.
Car runs fine, so I pop the hood to check for an oil leak and it appears the front seal is leaking pretty good.
I'm gonna do a leak down and compression test but its running fine and I cant tell any difference in performance.
Blow-by is non existent at idle and when revving it up.
The oil is clean and normal color.

The cars details are as follows.

Procharger P1 kit with a canned tune.
Kooks long tube headers and x pipe.
It does NOT have any crankcase venting mods other than what Procharger tells you to do.

I know the tune isn't designed for the headers and x pipe.
I just haven't got around to getting a custom tune done yet.
Its always run fine but I've never really hammered it hard. Until the other night on my way home before I parked it.

So I'm thinking there was some piston rattling going on, un seating the rings that gave it excessive momentary blow-by and it pushed out the front lip seal.
I guess I'll know more after the compression test and leak down test. But a new front seal is in order in any case.
These lip seals are not as hardy and resistant to excessive blow-by as the Gen 4 (LS-3) seals from what Ive read.

I had a crankcase catch can on my 02 SS Camaro with a P1sc and never had an issue. I wanted to put one on this engine as well but, again, I just didn't get around to it.
If I'm lucky I didn't damage the ring lands and can just replace the seal and get it tuned.

Have you guys had good luck with the Gen 4 front seals in the Gen 5 engines?
Probably wouldn't even need to use anything but the OEM seal as long as the crankcase is vented properly OR as long as the Tune is spot on.
In any case it is what it is for now until I know more.

Have any of you run into this with the LT1 front seals?

Considering adding a Procharger to my C7. Checking in to see how this turns out.

The reason I was so anxious about getting my Might Mouse can hooked up correctly with the A&A kit... absolutely did not want to have a front main seal issue... I hope the experienced guys can help you out quickly. When you do get it fixed, I did post up a thread with decent pics on how I plumbed the MM kit on my 2017 GS.

Good luck!

LT1 + Supercharger = Catch Can. Common issue over time with out pressure release.

compression check the car before you drive it anymore. typically the front seals blow out because the ring lands left the chat.

common to replace the front seal with one for an ls3.

My car pushed the front seal back in 2014 when I first put a blower on it. It was a tuning issue and growing pains of being early to the party with supercharging and tuning the LT platform. The motor wasn't hurt in the process, just too much timing and not enough CCV. Putting a true breather system on the car fixed the issue.

I would do a compression check and if all is good, I would put a breather setup on it. If the motor is hurt you should still put a breather setup on it after you get the issue fixed.

Agreed, but not just a catch can. Something that will vent to atmosphere as well as collect oil, coolant, etc.

Either PCV is hooked up wrong or tune is junk. You do not need anything else at that level.
