Hello, I Have a 2015 Stingray that when you start up the oil pressure is at 80. After running for a while it will start to go down to closer to 40. Engine sounds OK no temperature problem, oil or coolant.
Thank you
yep, this is how oil pressure works. hotter oil is thinner, meaning less pressure for a given pump speed, which is tied to your RPMs. there is a ceiling of pressure determined by the relief valve on your oil pump -- not sure what the exact number is for the c7, but most cars generally have an 80 to 100 psi relief.
Thanks Squirrelchew, The only thing that is puzzling is that all of my past Vettes started out and stayed around 40. Mobil 1 is thin and It is only
on the road in summer 70 + degrees.
Hi, Remember it doesn't stay 80 psi just till getting run awhile. I do appreciate all the input. When talking to my service they said it could be oil pressure sensor
or oil pump or trouble with the ECU. I probably will take it in and drop my pants and bend over or trade it for a newer car. I have been stuck on the side of
the road with a C6 and do not want to be in that place again waiting for a tow while cars wiz by at 70 plus. Thanks people
Thank you, I'll have it checked out. I'm to old and to tired to worry about it. if it's a major fix I'll dump it. I just hope it doesn't explode before service.

Sounds like a bad oil pressure sensor. Or the motor was opened up and purposely changed the oil pump to a high pressure setup.
Also, I assume you have your dash set to imperial and not metric?
