2015 Corvette A8 1LT
I hear a slight rear end whine when driving at 60 to 70 mph under very light acceleration. Just keeping up with traffic on the hgwy. When I let off the accelerator the whine goes away. I had my dealership change the rear end fluid. I provided the fluid and it is Valvoline full synthetic 75W-90 gear oil. ( Contains limited slip additive ). I asked the service mechanic if he saw any silver or metal particles in the old fluid he drained out. He said no.
The trans has had the full flush on it at another dealership. Previous owner had it done and I have the service ticket. I got all records when I purchased the car.
Does anyone have any idea what would be causing this whining noise???
Thanks for any help.

Also, some clutch packs need 2 bottles of friction modifier to keep them from "juddering" in tight turns. Not saying this is your problem, but it's a thing. (Especially in Z06's/ZR1's. as the clutch packs are at 3.25, vs. 3.0 for the coupe/Z51 cars.)
I haven't noticed any howling noises. I wonder what would happen if I just ignored the whine and drive it until it breaks. Changing the rear diff at the dealer is about $5000 part and labor. Its quite expensive. I don't like the idea of someone tearing into my car and not putting ALL the parts and pieces back where they belong. What would y'all do???

That's the general advice I hear; when (if?) it starts to howl and get really annoying, that's when you have the incentive to replace it.
I can only hear it when the radio is off and the ac is off. Total quiet in the car. If I have any thing on that makes noise, I can't hear it. I also wonder how long it will last before failure?
Mine did the same thing. I bet it will last a long time unless you track or race the car. I broke mine after a few months. Was at the track with some sticky tires.
Changing the fluid won’t help if now but definitely wouldn’t hurt it.
I was lucky enough to find a used diff from a wrecked z06 and had a local performance shop install it. Cost me under $2000 parts and labor.
I was driving the car the other day and I noticed the whine may sound like transmission rather than rear end. I don't know at this point. The previous owner said he had the fluid flush done at a Chevrolet dealership. I have the service receipt and the cost was around $400. He had this service done because of torque converter shudder. The car does not have tc shudder but I can say that I have noticed something that I think is really weird. With everything warmed up and idling, I can rev the car to 2000 rpm and let off the pedal and I can feel a jerk when the tach needle drops. Its almost like someone is tapping the brake for just a second. Anyway just to be sure I wasn't imagining things, I reved it to 4000 and got the same result except it was more noticeable. I wonder if anyone else has this situation?
