My cruise control quit working on my 2016 stingray.Since nothing lights up when trying to turn it on I suspect it's the switch on the steering wheel.Am I on the right path or could it be something else?
I have a automatic.I was thinking that it was the brake switch at one time but with no light coming on at all that's what got me thinking it was the control switch.
If you have a scanner that can read all of the power train codes check for the following codes:
DTC P0564: Cruise Control Multifunction Switch Circuit
DTC P0565: Cruise Control Switch Circuit
DTC P0567: Cruise Control Resume Switch Circuit
DTC P0568: Cruise Control Set Switch Circuit
DTC P056C: Cruise Control Cancel Switch Circuit
DTC P0571: Cruise Control Brake Switch Circuit
DTC P0572: Brake Switch Circuit 1 Low Voltage
DTC P0573: Brake Switch Circuit 1 High Voltage
DTC P0575: Cruise Control Switch Signal Message Counter Incorrect
DTC P0703: Brake Switch Signal Message Counter Incorrect
DTC P0580: Cruise Control Multifunction Switch Circuit Low Voltage
DTC P0581: Cruise Control Multifunction Switch Circuit High Voltage
DTC P155A: Cruise Control Switch State Undetermined
DTC P155B: Cruise Control Set/Coast Switch 2 Circuit
DTC P155C: Cruise Control Resume/Acceleration Switch 2 Circuit
DTC P162C: Vehicle Speed Limiting/Warning Switch Circuit
DTC B3794 08: Cruise Control Function Request Circuit
DTC B3794 61: Cruise Control Function Request Circuit
There are fault location procedures for each of the codes, the codes get you looking in the right area the procedures get you to the failed item.
@Bill Dearborn what scanner do you recommend? I saw your comment in an earlier post that not all OBD2 scanners will read all the codes.
If I have a CEL and I doubt these codes raise a CEL since they don't affect emissions I use a cheap iPhone app with an WiFi Elm OBD2 plug in. However, if I want to do some fault location by following the various diagnostic procedures in the FSM I use a VCX Nano clone of the GM MDI2 scanner used by dealers. You need a Windows PC to run the software but the tool itself runs less than $150 and you can get it from Amazon.
I assume that the OP is first pressing the top button on the left side of the steering wheel to turn on cruise control. Once that button is pressed, a white speedometer icon appears on the instrument cluster. Now cruise control and be set with the buttons below the on/off button for the cruise control. Once cruise control is set, the speedometer icon turns green.
If the above does not work, then I would disconnect the negative lead on the car battery for 5 minutes and try it again.
I would try the main battery as well. As many other threads have described, when these batteries start going bad, strange anomalies will develop. If your battery is 3-4 years old or unknown, I'd swap it out. It'll eliminate that headache down the road.
Here is the wiring diagram for your 2016…if you want to let a pro handle this Cody’s (Cody Gaddie) Auto Diagnostics is your guy…he’s in Tucson and he does mobile diagnostics…there are MANY things that will inhibit the CC from working and having an OE level scan tool would help to see if there are any DTC’s stored and also help in checking the CC inputs.

Let us know what you find sir.
I noticed it not working after having a new battery installed.I don't know if it quit working before I changed it though.I did read the possibility of that being the reason so I did disconnect the neg.lead on the battery for a few minutes and still didn't work.I will try that again and leave it disconnected longer.I read that someone left it disconnected overnight.

If you already disconnected the ground and didn't see a change disconnecting it again will not change anything.
After you disconnect the battery, you have to press the button on the steering wheel to turn the cruse control back on.That issue caught me couple years ago when I put in a new battery, wildest thing,. I opened owners manual & read the instruction on how to turn it on.
Hm.. Is the small black ground wire still connected to the big negative lead on the battery. New battery installs can easily break that wire and the car becomes the demon from hell with issues that are difficult to fix.
