Default Intake Air Temperature Sensor Fault

2017 Grand Sport and I had my first check engine light issue come up at a track day last month. It was an intake air temp sensor failure and luckily a local auto parts store had one in stock since I was out of town attending a track day. At that time it made my cooling fan run constantly, even when started up on a 50 degree morning. Since then I've had a check engine light pop up intermittently on my 2nd or 3rd session (its mostly a track car now). Yesterday it did it again on my second session and this time I had a code reader and above is the screen shot of the code. Cooling fan was acting normal. I cleared it, ran another session and it was fine. Any thoughts?

Check the wiring harness for signs of abrasion / breakage. Also check the connector to make sure it seats tightly and all the pins are seated. Lastly....see if you can wiggle the harness while the car is running and if that pops the Check Engine light on.

The fact that it came back suggests wiring....but I've also seen aftermarket sensors cause this same thing. If the replacement sensor is an aftermarket brand, you may need to buy a genuine AC Delco part.

A P0113 is a circuit “high” DTC which is a wiring or a sensor issue…you changed the sensor so it looks like a wiring issue…the IAT is a 2 wire thermistor circuit…a 5 volt reference and a ground…the sensor pulls that 5 volts to ground through the sensor and the ECM reads a voltage based on the sensor resistance…if the ECM sees 5 volts either through a bad sensor or ground the code sets…I’d check those 2 IAT terminals for loose terminal connections…this can also be the 5 volt reference wire also.
