Default New Corvette owner

Hey everyone, I am a new Corvette owner and need some help to see what the best course of action is. I took my car to get an alignment after replacing my tires on my C7 grand sport 2017 and they told me that my rear left shock was leaking and that it needed to be replaced. Now this is the part number that I got from doing my search. I wanted to cross reference with anyone who knows about this to make sure that it the correct part and that it can be through ACDelco GM affiliate. Want to keep everything original on the car. Thank you and any input would be amazing.

Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your C7!
This is more of a “hello” section.
I would suggest asking your question in the C7 Tech section at: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...2014-2019-141/
Lot of great members with helpful info there.

Welcome!

Correct part # per Rock Auto but can't verify on several GM parts sites...

Don't know what to tell you...

Did the alignment shop set rear caster, camber, and toe? C7s are a bit unique in that all 3 are adjustable. Rear caster takes a special bracket and gauge.

It depends on which suspension you have. The part number you listed
Fits Rear; Heavy Duty Suspension (FE7); w/ RPO Code AB4Z
or Rear; Heavy Duty Suspension (FE7); w/ RPO Code ADBS
or Rear; Performance Suspension (FE6); w/ RPO Code AB4Z
or Rear; Performance Suspension (FE6); w/ RPO Code ADBS
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...t=7556&jsn=907

But if you have mag-ride you're probably FE4 which is 580-1131
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...t=7556&jsn=905

The RPO code should be on your build sheet, maybe a sticker in the trunk or the glove box, or possibly one of the VIN decoders might show it.

Stingray mag ride is FE4, GS is FE6, Z06 is FE7 suspension.

OP has a 2017 GS - with FE6.

FE4 was standard on Grand Sport models per the Corvette Black Book.
However, I suspect their information is incomplete. They don't list FE6 or FE7 at all.

The GMVIS report and service parts label on my previous 2014 Z51 with mag ride lists FE4. The build sheet and service parts label on my current 2019 GS lists FE6. I suspect the service parts labels, GMVIS, and build sheets are more accurate than a handbook.

If it is magnetic ride, GM says some leakage is "normal." Really...

I know it is a pain in the neck but back that wheel up over a 2x10, park brake, park brake, park brake, put gardening clothes on, slide under the rear and look at the shock. Compare it to the pics in the bulletin listed by RonC7. Some service people will say the shock is leaking and needs to be replaced. There may be enough dampness so you can't say he is wrong about it leaking. But he may be way wrong about it needing replacing.
