6600. The "Extreme Cutoff" is 6700 but it's kind of a second line of defense. If someone does something to get around the 6600rpm fuel cutoff, the Extreme Cutoff goes to work. In other words, you have to change the cutoff in 2 locations.
You'll also note there are other cutoff parameters such as Engine Oil Temp (EOT)...ie it's not just a single number like the old days.

If there's nothing wrong with your engine then no. As long as you're not over spinning the engine in an M7 by downshifting too early. Auto cars won't let you money shift.
