Default Run Mode for Diablo I3 tuner

With the foot off the brake pedal, 1 press of the start button is Accessorie mode. Do you do 2 quick presses of the "START" button or hold and press the start button for 10 seconds? Please advise. I would prefer to do it right and not brick the ECM.

I tried 2 presses of the "START" button with the foot off the brake pedal but it seems to be in ACCESSORY Mode only.

TIA

Just an FYI , Not sure if this is just limited to my car but when I used a Diablo Intune I3 platinum for my 93 tune and later a custom header tune etc, after the tune was loaded I would have to disconnect my battery , then reconnect it. If I did this every time the tune was great and never experienced an issue

If I did not to this , the first start would always be really bad , engine would shake rattle pop and roll . Scared the heck out of me the first time as I thought I bricked something

I have tried every start button combination there is and I am 100% confident in my ability to use the tool . I even emailed Mike who said that this was not normal . At the time my car was never tuned , I eventually got use to the procedure and never worried about bricking the ECM or TCM

Just wanted to posted this incase anyone else runs into this one off issue as it might help them .

This is in no way a slam on the tool because it works great and you can do alot more with it than people think ! .

Diablo Lew and Mike's customer service is second to none !

Only reason I still dont use it is because I had to switch to HP Tuners because of my blower

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions

Dave

That is odd. I updated the system and installed the canned tune without any rough running. I will try the custom Lew tune at some point after I drive 200 miles and datalog. So far it is on a 91 tune with firm shift with no AFM. I changed and drove from weather mode to track mode. Stayed in V8 mode

Can I assume you had problems with the canned tune where you had to unplug or was it the custom tune?

Anytime I uploaded any tune I had to "reboot" , I only know of 2 others that had the same issue so I do not think it's tool related

93 tune really woke my car up , does not and any HP that u will feel but the fun factor and drivablity of the car greatly increased

You can also adjust gas pedal sensitivity, that in itself was worth it

DIABLO LEW'S tune with headers really woke it up my car ,

My 1/4 mile times greatly improved over stock ( and i recorded DA, conditions etc ) stock, 93 tune , Lew's tune with Headers

Its a great tool for someone who is not familiar with the complexity of using HP Tuners to make small mods to the tune

Plus the ability to put your stock tune back in is also a great feature

There are those that will say just go with HP tuners ... yep HP will do more but the learning curve is steep

This is my first load so not sure. Vehicle is stock. Could that affect anything?

Not sure of your question ... just make sure your battery is good, the obd plug is plugged in tight and follow the prompts , , dont touch anything, dont pull on the wires , the system will save your orginal tune and then start the write procedure . It will ask you to turn the key off and back on a few times once its done it will do a check . If the tune fails for whatever reason the tool will reload your orginal tune
It's pretty bomb proof ..

I'm just wondering why you had to reset. I didn't. I just loaded and drove. Didn't know if you were stock before the load or modded. Mine did as you said. So far so good. Counting the mileage till I can get a custom tune.

The issues he had were not something I have ever seen to be common on other Corvettes. If you flashed it once without issue, you should be fine moving forward.

I got to say that first time you do this, it is scary. You don't know how long it will take and every minute, you imagine screwing up something and making a brick of the ECM.

Yep , I agree , when I put my procharger on , my tuner sent me a startup tune , come to find out my car did not like the startup tune at all , was way rich . Ran terrible and I was thinking I did something wrong . Few idle logs later and some revised tunes it was good enough to drive and get a few more logs , after about the 6th upload it was running great but I was holding my breath there for a minute lol lol

Like updating the Bios on a computer, if you mess it up you could brick it
