Default C7 Newbie Help

I picked up a 2016 Stingray Z51 with 9k miles on it from the original owner. With such low miles I almost feel bad in doing anything extreme to the car right now. What I had in mind was leaving the NPP exhaust and doing some headers & catted X pipe since I’m in NY and have emissions. I’ve already purchased a carbon fiber Corsa intake but have not installed yet. The next thing I was looking at was doing a FlexFuel kit to run E85. I do plan on going with a ProCharger setup down the road but want to make sure that whatever I do now has that in mind. In other words, I don’t want to buy things twice. So here are my questions..

1) Will it be okay to go with a 2” header set now?
2) Which FlexFuel kit is most reliable with a clean install.
3) Will an HP Tuner be efficient for this type of setup or is there another one that I should be looking at?
4) Is there anything else that I should be looking into for what I have planned?

I appreciate any help you all can give! Thanks

I would find a local tuner to get you started on what mods will still allow you to pass emissions in NY. Some states test for original tune when emissions testing. Good luck!

I put 2" headers and X pipe on mine with future supercharger plans had it pro tuned. Did a CAI at the same time, gained 40 rwhp. I think you are on the right track

Nice! At least I’m going in the right direction. What brand of headers did you go with?

I did Texas Speed. only because I got a deal on a used set. A 19 year old who was partial owned of a pot farm in Michigan sold his Z06 and these were take off's. Got the headers and X pipe for $1k. Catless.

I would add the Texas Speed drivers side header hangs down 2"-3" below the rest of the car. Nature of their design. I have a small step pulling out of my garage and if I don't creep out it will rub. I'm told Kooks or American Racing are much better but still lower than stock.

I would have jumped all over that deal too! Good to know about them hanging lower. With that in mind, I will steer away from those because I’d worried about clearance as well.

I have a Texas Speed X-pipe for their 2" headers for sale. It is their catted version. If you go that route, I would make you a deal.

I'm still curious about the FlexFuel sensor.. Does the dealer install these?

I havent asked but I would say no. If there was a plug and play option for the corvettes, everyone would run them. On top of that, you have to go into the computer and let it know there is a sensor installed. On my DSX kit, I had to go into the a computer plug and pin the sensor into the harness. If you dont tell the computer what it is, it wont know. I dont think there would be any gains if there wasnt a tune along with it as well. Could you find one to do it? Maybe. At that point there are so many other places to go if you cannot do it yourself.
