So I took my c7 auto on a little drive about two days ago and it was running completely fine. Parked it in my garage, two days later I go to start it and get no engine turnover. All accessories and lights come on, the key is recognized by the car, I don’t get a clicking noise from the alternator or anything like that when trying to start. And I am getting no codes on my obd scanner . I’m thinking it may be the starter ? Just hit about 75k miles.
I have disconnected the battery, no luck on a reset.
also getting about 13v on my battery so don’t think there is an issue there.
If it was mine I would start with the battery or cable. Sounds like you might need a trip to a good mechanic. Hopefully it's something very simple. These newer vehicles seem to be very dependable however when something doesn't work right they are difficult to troubleshoot. Most Corvette owners don't even change their own oil and are not qualified mechanics. Lot's of self appointed experts out there wink wink.
If the voltmeter is saying 13 volts, it's not the battery. First thing I would do is disconnect the battery, clean the post (mainly the negative) with a brillo pad briefly, clean the clamp, hook it back up and see what happens. I've seen perfectly clean posts and clamp not be able to send a current. Once buffed up, worked just fine. Weird but electricity is finicky. If you can remove your starter, Autozone and such used to test your start if you brought it in. But I'd start with simply cleaning the posts.
Does the dash turn? Most times the starter will make some noise but not always. If everything else kicks but the motor doesnt turn over, it could be that.
Thanks for all replies guys. Unfortunately, i am still not having any luck getting it to fire or even attempt to crank over. All lights come on and the car makes little to no noise when trying to start the engine. Fuses have been checked, terminals have been cleaned on battery. I currently have the car on a trickle charge seeing if that works some magic somehow. I'm thinking it has to be a starter issue, but wouldn't that throw a code?
I'd go straight to the starter with a volt meter. You'll need to get the car in the air and put a volt meter on the signal wire to the starter and see if you are getting 12 volts to the solenoid when hitting the start button. No 12 volts and it's further up the line. If you are get 12 volts then you have narrowed it down to the starter. You could try smacking the starter with a wrench a few times while trying to crank and see if that makes a difference. If smacking it gets it to turn over then your starter is bad.
