The drain plugs on my 17 GS are both the same, l change my own oil and bought the car new so I am sure. Someone may have replaced one in the past, they seal with a o-ring gasket , have the replaced it with the correct one and does it still leak?

I haven't had a dealership tell me that the front drain plug was switched out with a larger one, no.

Is this a dry sump system that has 2 drain plugs? Are you sure it wasn't stripped and some bozo decided to use a bigger one and wrench it in?

My suspicions too. Too many gorillas putting in oil bolts.

they ordered the original and it won't thread in , someone before me that had car must have screwed it up. so now it leaks since they pulled it out and can't find a seal yet - they say .
its dry sump with 2 plugs . and the one is now larger bolt/plug.

replace the oil pan which will be $$ or tap the existing hole for a new plug which obviously will be bigger than what you have now but will seal. about only 2 choices you have

if they knew the one with issue was "bigger" than stock should of guessed issues with thread for sure.
guess be glad the pan isnt cracked in that area and just needs proper tapping/thread.
i would of stopped let owner know, then redrained oil, tried the other regular plug in that hole and said houston we have a problem.
yeah i would have them tap the pan with the next size up plug with correct thread and go from there.
going to be wasting some oil but certainly cant be leaking and need to fix it correctly.

best of luck.

Install a Keensert or equivalent and go back to the original size oil plug / bolt.
