Is there a list of DIC messages?
I looked in the owners manual and I do not see a list of the various messages that can pop up on the DIC display. I have seen a warning message pop up when autocrossing, but I am not able to focus on it since I am in the middle of a run and have to finish and get off the track. I would like to see a complete list of these messages so I can actually read what it says and figure out what it means. Does that list exist somewhere?
The basic concept of the message I have seen is that I need to upshift to protect the engine and engine power is being reduced.

Thanks! My 2018 OM has this list below which does not show any specific messages - just categories. Does your 2017 manual show actual messages?
Vehicle Messages
Messages displayed on the DIC
indicate the status of the vehicle or
some action that may be needed to
correct a condition. Multiple
messages may appear one after
another.
The messages that do not require
immediate action can be
acknowledged and cleared by
pressing V. The messages that
require immediate action cannot be
cleared until that action is
performed.
All messages should be taken
seriously; clearing the message
does not correct the problem.
If a SERVICE message appears,
see your dealer.
Follow the instructions given in the
messages. The system displays
messages regarding the following
topics:
. Service Messages
. Fluid Levels
. Vehicle Security
. Brakes
. Ride Control Systems
. Driver Assistance Systems
. Cruise Control
. Lighting and Bulb Replacement
. Wiper/Washer Systems
. Doors and Windows
. Seat Belts
. Airbag Systems
. Engine and Transmission
. Tire Pressure
. Battery

You can get a 1 month, 1 year, or 3 year subscription to Alldata and you’ll have all the service info and wiring diagrams you’ll need…1 month is $19.99.

I looked in the C7 shop manual and the information is not there so it seems likely it would not be on Alldata either. If someone has an Alldata account, maybe they could look? If it is there I would happily spend $20 to get that information.

The only info on the messages are what’s in the owners manual…nothing in Alldata for your 2018…if you don’t have a scan tool it may be a good investment if you want to do the work yourself…if it’s a Powertrain issue the check engine light will illuminate…for anything else like Body, Chassis, SRS, HVAC, etc it will not illuminate !!

Thanks for checking Alldata. I have a scan tool, but nothing shows up because this message is not a failure. It would be in the same category as the Oil Life notification when you get down to 15%.

What scan tool are you using ??…code readers usually won’t show DTC’s in all modules…just Powertrain which will illuminate the MIL.

@C5 Diag is right - the MK808BT is a good unit and I almost bought it. I went with the XTool D8BT which is also bi-directional but it's all personal choice. The reason I went with XTool is 3 years of free updates then the updates are less than Autel (which works for my limited uses). All I'll say is the next level of diagnostics a bi-directional scanner provides can be enlightening and intimidating. You'll see faults for pulled fuses (NPP - I did), maybe faults for LED bulbs if you installed them (like I had done and subsequently removed), and all kinds of things that make you go hmmmm.... But when you need specific answers from people willing to help, having that additional info is key to finding a resolution or plan of attack.

Yes it does. Suggest you download the 2017 OM, and start on pg. 124. I believe that is what you are looking for.

Greenkar - thanks for that info! I downloaded the 2017 manual and found the specific message which says:
UPSHIFT NOW, ENGINE PROTECTION ACTIVE This message indicates the engine controls have taken action to prevent an oil starvation condition. This may reduce the available engine power, or on automatic transmission equipped vehicles force an upshift to a higher gear.
It seems really stupid that they deleted this info from the 2018 Owners manual.
