Headers and X pipe.

Headers and X pipe.
I bought an X pipe and had it installed. The X pipe was an LG Motorsports product that was in stock and didn’t see any problem with doing it. Now here is the wrinkle, I have been waiting 6 months for the headers to come back in stock. It does not look promising. The guys at LG Motorsport have been great especially Dane Syme. I know they are probably tired of all my questions, I don’t understand these new engines. I can build a GM small block or big block in my sleep. So sorry for the rant but I had several parts suppliers telling me I can’t just buy a set of headers since they have to be matched to the X pipe. Please tell me that is not true. Can I use a set of C7 headers that are not LG Motorsports? Thanks for putting up with my rant and lack of knowledge.

it would have to do with the length off the headers and the flange that mounts the headers to your x pipe. if you have oem exhaust manifolds and catted downpipes and they mate to the x pipe you have the flanges wont work with a header collector. thats why most order matching headers and xpipe from the same brand they choose so they match up

How much was the x pipe? Try to sell it and get headers and x pipe to match.. I know that is obvious, but that's about all you can do. I went with Kooks headers and catless x pipe and it sound amazing..

You bought an x-pipe that fits stock exhaust manifolds/downpipe. You can't buy long tube headers and use that x-pipe. The connections are different.
Long tubes should come with a new x-pipe.
If you buy mid length headers designed to be used with a stock x-pipe, then you can keep the LG you have.
I had a Corsa x-pipe on my car and sold it when I put long tubes on my car.
LG should be able to tell you all of the info you need to know.
