I'm battling an issue with my clutch pedal sinking down under hard acceleration and sometimes sticking to the floor after being pressed. It happens like once every 100 miles. I'm having my shop put in a new slave with the billet bearing support. That being said, I was wiring up my wideband today and while tucking the wires I saw there is corrosion all over the bottom of the clutch master cylinder bracket.. Is this normal or is my master leaking?! The level doesn't seem low at all, but I can't imagine how else this would rust in just the place is corroded. The odd think is I've had this car for a few thousand miles and the fluids not low.
That may not be rust. Is the piece of metal ferrous or aluminum? In the picture, it looks like it is an aluminum casting. If so the discoloration may be an adhesive of some sort. Oxidation on an aluminum part would look sort of powdery grey. It usually acts as a protectant to the metal. If you can reach the part with your hand wet a rag with some WD 40 and wipe down that area to see if the WD 40 removes the substance in the picture.
